Safety Awareness for Education

Over the years, we have learned that security in K-12 Education is an uphill battle for School Security Personnel.  In spite of the vision and millions of dollars spent for hardware and personnel, the degree by which our students and staff are protected is minimal at best.  An unmanned monitoring system exposes the entire facility to danger. A door propped open is an invitation to intruders.  A burglar alarm that has not been activated generates millions of dollars in losses.  A system that does not monitor and control the movement of people in
its building is vulnerable to invasion and the possible loss of lives. Securing our most precious commodity (our kids) and the future of America should be our greatest aim. 

The ConTech Design Group’s second annual Intern Program was a fourteen week initiative designed to research safety and security in Pre-K -12. Through a collaborate effort and special research by three interns fromGeorgia Tech, Georgia State and University of West Georgia, “Safety Awareness For Education” was created to add a face to the need for safety and security in our schools and communities.

(S.A.F.E.) is a division of ConTech Design Group that focuses on addressing the concerns
of parents, teachers, and administrators have on children’s safety and security in the education system. Because of the times we are living and the climate by which we must
raise our children, what must we do to insure the safety of our students as we protect the facility and investment in equipment?  If security is the first thing noticed as soon as you drive onto the campus, teaching and learning becomes compromised.  What then is the answer
to balancing people safety, facility security with teaching and learning?  The answer must be created and delivered through a joint effort by a group of stakeholders who are operating on one accord.  As a Consultant, we will assist with your initial selection of the map but will allow you to determine the vehicle by which you will arrive at your final destination.  Once you have determined where you are going and everyone on the team has signed onto the journey,we will charter the course.
